A rare example of surviving graffiti by American International Brigader Edward Muscala, written on Christmas Day 1937. Edward Muscala was killed on April 2nd 1938 during the Great Retreats near Gandesa and has no known grave, as happened to many International Brigaders who died in Spain. Now temporarily protected in a deserted hermitage in the village where the Lincoln Washington battalion celebrated Christmas 1937, this is one of the many unusual places that can be visited on tours conducted by “Porta de la Historia”.
